The 9 Lives of Charlie the Chicken Mushroom is an adventure series written for children of all ages. Charlie's sense of adventure and mind for mischief can get him into trouble. He has a group of vegetable friends, "The Garden Gang" that help him in and out of jams. No matter what crazy, fun and foolish shenanigans take place his friends always have his back. Let your Freak Flag Fly!
The stories are all based on true events that took place throughout my life. It is meant to introduce kids to a wide variety of vegetables and encourage them to get cooking. Each book features a kid friendly recipe showcasing a unique and tasty vegetable.
A portion from each book sold at the event will be donated to Share Our Strength Foundation and the No Kid Hungry Campaign. Thank you for your support!
Katie Kirwan has always had a passion for cooking and eating! It started from a young age when she checked out her first cookbook from the library and tried her hand at her first recipe. The recipe was for pink applesauce, made pink from the red apple skins. As she watched the bubbly sauce change color she was hooked and her curiosity for cooking grew. With a degree from Johnson & Wales and a positive attitude she has spent the last sixteen years traveling and working in a multitude of restaurants learning as much as she can. She was inspired to write the book the day she came in contact with a new ingredient, a chicken mushroom! From there the idea was born. With her love of writing she combined her two passions and is now sharing Charlie the Chicken Mushroom with the world.
