On January 8th, 1935, Jesse Garon Presley and his twin brother were born in Tupelo, Mississippi. Jesse was stillborn. On October 20th, 2011, a young man returned to Israel after fifteen years of self-exile. Together, these two ghosts become a travelogue passing through the Judean landscape in search of an intertwined closure. Prose and poetry collide in this lyrical memoir colored with the lens of magical realism. This is the debut work in the prodigal son trilogy.
jesse garon writes a love letter is the debut book from Robby Nadler. This work was the result of a Fulbright the author received in 2011. He is also the recipient of the 2011 Discovered Voices Award for poetry and the 2004 Los Angeles Young Writers Award and 2015 Agnes Scott Writers Festival Award, both for nonfiction. An alumnus of U.C.L.A. and the University of Montana, he currently works as the assistant director of the Writing Center at the University of Georgia, where he is completing his Ph.D. Nadler is also a baker who was worked in several of the country's top bakeries, including Missoula's very own Le Petit Outre.
