Carol Bradley & Jamie Ford

Monday, August 4: Nonfiction/Fiction: Carol Bradley & Jamie Ford. 7pm

Carol Bradley grew up in Tennessee and spent 26 years reporting for newspapers in her home state, New York, Washington D.C. and Montana. She studied animal law at Harvard University, where she was one of two dozen journalists worldwide chosen in 2003 to spend a year as a Nieman Fellow. Her first book was the critically praised Saving Gracie: How One Dog Escaped the Shadowy World of American Puppy Mills. Last Chain on Billie: How One Extraordinary Elephant Escaped the Big Top is her second book. Against the backdrop of a glittering but brutal circus world, Last Chain on Billie charts the history of elephants in America, the inspiring story of the Elephant Sanctuary and the spellbinding tale of a resilient elephant who defied the system even as she struggled to conquer her past, who never lost sight of the life she was meant to have. Carol lives in Great Falls with her husband, Steve L'Heureux, and three rescued dogs.

My name is James. Yes, I'm a dude. I’m also the New York Times bestselling author of Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet—which was, in no particular order, an IndieBound NEXT List Selection, a Borders Original Voices Selection, a Barnes & Noble Book Club Selection, Pennie’s Pick at Costco, a Target Bookmarked Club Pick, and a National Bestseller. It was also named the #1 Book Club Pick for Fall 2009/Winter 2010 by the American Booksellers Association. In addition, Hotel has been translated into 34 languages. I’m still holding out for Klingon (that’s when you know you’ve made it). My new novel, Songs of Willow Frost was published September 10, 2013. And I'm also working on a YA (Young Adult) series that even my agent doesn't know about...yet. On the personal side, I'm the proud father of more teenagers than I can keep track of. Yep, it's chaos, but the good kind of chaos.
