Friday, September 5th: Poetry. Reverberations of War: Finding Refuge in Poems. Join us for an hour of poetry featuring local and international voices on violence, its influence on our lives, and the collective call for peace. 7 pm.
In our lives, we all feel the effects of war. As the trauma of past wars linger unresolved and new battles begin, we all respond in different ways, subtle and palpable. Whether we are combat veterans, family and close friends, or civilians whose communities have been ruined by war, our souls can take refuge in the shared humanity voiced in our poems. Healing begins as we connect in our basic truths.
REVERBERATIONS OF WAR is a reading of poetry written by veterans, community members, and international citizens who live shaken by war’s destruction. The reading gathers us to honor and validate each poet's experience for a glimpse of the healing that can come of the wounds.
REVERBERATIONS OF WAR is sponsored by The United States of Hope and ex·tinc·tion wit·ness.
